BBC Radio 4:
BBC Radio 4 is a radio station that is for anyone interested in intellectual speech. There is a mixture of programmes that inform, educate, discuss or even entertain with several target audience as there are different topics for different audiences. (Comedy, news, entertainment, music, advice or female facts) By March 2024, there will be just one version of Radio 4. However, the first air date was on the 30th of September back in 1967.The owner for BBC Radio 4 is BBC itself which is quite self-explanatory. Its main way of being funded is by the public when we pay our tv licences.
Demographics:
- Age: The specific age that Radio 4 varies is 56 years old
- Gender: Both male and female as there are varies programmes even some specifically for women. There are channels on women killing people in the Victorian time. Then there is football which is mostly watched by men and women.
- Nationality: The channel is mainly British themed and the most audience listeners ethnicity tends to be English, British.
- Religion: Shows respect for different religions such as Islam, this is shown where there is a programme that just plays a specific verse in the Quran. There is a programme that talks about the different beliefs and views that reflect different religions that leads to attracting different people that wouldn't usually listen to BBC radio.
- Ethnicity: Diverse audience as it is a popular well-known radio.
Lifestyle:
The lifestyle of everyone is different depending on the person and what programme they listen to and when. The programmes such as Shipping forecast is loved by many people and even people who don't go shipping and need to be informed of the weather. Some listeners find it oddly satisfying and have pictures of the weather forecast maps of shipping weather on the wall in their living room. I would assume their lifestyle would include spending time at a museum that may be in or out of London. On the way there may listen to the shipping forecast to get them excited.
Spending power:
Some people are more advanced the other when it comes to money. Some feminists love the fact that there is a programme called No country for young women. However, they may not be financially stable to be investing in books about women or posters of influencers. The audience of BBC radio are more likely to have a degree more than a GCSE. They are middle class and looking at the social grade AB is the higher level and intermediate managerial, administrivia and professional occupations or even C1 which is the supervisory, clerical and junior managerial, administrative and professional occupations.

The first show is Loose ends. This plays different types of relaxing and positive vibes by different authors, until the presents start talking and taking over and sort of interview the singers. however, it is streamed at 11pm. Then there is the programme Midnight news that show the lates news and weather forecast rom BBC Radio 4. Considering it is late at night going onto the next day, there begins to be Christmas meditation- Hope for heavenly peace which consolidates the atmosphere, vibes and mood that everyone is in for Christmas and the days leading up to Christmas. The more the programmes go on the more interesting it gets as in the Moring it just music, interviews, information and meditation whereas Radio four starts presenting horror ghost stories, shipping forecasts, farming and tweets of the day.
However, in the morning from 9:00 am to 11:30, there are shows that talk about life changes, insights to James Bonds life or even gets into talks about psychology and Women (Seven deadly psychologies and women's hour).
This appeals to the audience a snot only does it aim for specific genders like females but there are programmes on there that will get viewed by everyone like the ghost stories for people who find joy and entertainment from watching such. There are several target audiences on BBC Radio 4 considering the programmes are all diverse and different. This also comes with age; older people may enjoy watching the news or shipping forecast then others considering they may know more about it and have more experience or experience with things such as ships and boast to understand the ship language that is spoken when trying to inform people about that type of forecast. Mothers or men that like cooking are most likely to watch programmes like the Kitchen cabinet rather than people who are too busy with their lives to even be in a kitchen.
