M1 - investigating the audience profile for BBC radio 4

BBC Radio 4 along with demographics and schedule:

BBC Radio 4 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. The station replaced the BBC Home Service on 30 September 1967 and broadcasts a wide variety of spoken-word programmes from the BBC's headquarters at Broadcasting House, London. It is also funded by the tv license.

BBC Radio 4 is the second-most-popular British domestic radio station by total hours, after Radio 2. It recorded its highest audience, of 11 million listeners, in May 2011 and was "UK Radio Station of the Year" at the 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2023 Radio Academy Awards. It also won a Peabody Award in 2002 for File on  Costing £71.4 million it is the BBC's most expensive national radio network and is considered by many to be its flagship. 

0% of BBC Radio 4 listeners are aged 50 or over, while only 11% are aged 18-24. 54% of BBC Radio 4 listeners are male, while 46% are female. BBC Radio 4 has a higher proportion of listeners from higher social grades (ABC1) than any other UK radio station, with 62% of its audience falling into this category.

BBC radio 4 schedule: 

As mentioned previously, BBC radio 4 has a diverse audience as well as content being produced and distributed, Here we will look at what is on todays schedule on BBC radio 4.

In these images bellow, it shows all of the programmes that are shown in the morning/showing schedule of the day. In all the images bellow, there are different schedule timings that consist of the early shows, the morning shows and the evening shows. 

In the image above you can see the highlighted programme. This is highlighted due to the fact it informs everyone what the next coming show is that will be streamed ever live or just aired next automatically. 

here you can see that it shifted from early morning shows to now evening shows. This is a shift of change as the early the programme the more it is about news and things that inform the audience, however, the afternoon shows are more for entertainment purposes. This is the same situation from when it turns from afternoon to evenings but they start to get less entertaining to wine down programmes.
